From Barre to Bling! Placing and preparing appliqués!

1. I start by placing appliqués to determine what pieces to use to create the look✨

2. Next I pre wash and hand dry the pieces flat

3. Lastly I use a hot knife to cut out the selected designs and to prevent fraying.

✨ Behind the Bling: Semi-Custom Process for Makenna’s Solo Costume! ✨

Today we’re giving her costume a bold transformation — taking it from white to a stunning violet berry shade! 💜

Here’s how we did it:

1. Created a custom violet berry dye using Rit Dyemore (perfect for synthetic fabrics).
2. Pre-washed and soaked the garments in warm water.
3. Removed excess water to help the fabric absorb color evenly.
4. Added our custom dye formula to a simmering bath — then carefully immersed the garments.
5.Kept the dye in constant motion to ensure smooth, even color.
6. Rinsed thoroughly and towel-dried using white towels (so we could spot any leftover dye).
7. Hand-dried on a cool setting to preserve texture and fabric quality.
8. Finished by pairing the newly dyed fabric and appliqué with a triad of coordinating rhinestones to tie the entire look together. ✨
